Recreational Soccer

Kindergarten — 5th Grade

The FC Frenchtown Recreational K-5th program is focused on learning the fundamentals of soccer and building basic skills and team dynamics. We also emphasize sportsmanship (how to both win and lose with grace, how to be competitive while still being kind), working together collaboratively, and most of all, how to ENJOY soccer and have FUN. Practices meet twice a week, and scrimmages occur each Saturday morning of the season. All practices and games occur at the school’s Intermediate field. We look forward to seeing everyone out on the field!

We Need You To Volunteer!

FC Frenchtown is run completely off Volunteer Power. We have quadrupled in size since establishing our club in 2018, and we need help to make this season successful!

Opportunities to volunteer include:

  • Coach / Assistant Coach - Do you like kids? Or Soccer? Or better yet, BOTH? We welcome all experience levels. You do NOT need to be an expert, or even have played before, to coach (trust us). We’ll supply you with resources/videos/websites if you want them. There is a training that will have to be completed regarding concussion safety and player safety, and you must be able to pass a background check.

  • Team Parent - Don’t want to coach but really like the behind the scenes jobs?‍ ‍Help organize the parents on the team to bring snacks, help disseminate practice and game information or any changes in schedule, share picture day info and help wrangle players that day

  • Line Referee, or Helper - Help decide who’s possession it is, was it in/out, keep time. Sometimes we can get our competitive players to help with ref, but not always—especially in the Spring—so consider helping! Don’t want to ref? Help set out or pick up cones and goals before/after matches, be supportive and encouraging at scrimmages

  • Organization- Help organize the teams with the head of our Recreational Program—-It’s a lot of work organizing 100+ kids into teams and age groups and finding coaches and ordering jerseys and accommodating schedules. Many hands make light work!

  • Fundraising- We are a self sustainable club that relies on fundraising. If you’re not able to volunteer time, please volunteer to help fundraise or include extra $ for donation.

  • Sponsorship- Do you own or work for a local business who might be interested in sponsoring a team? For $150, your business name could be on the back of your kiddo’s jersey and on our season sponsor banner. That’s a lot of advertising bang for your buck, AND you get to support the best little soccer club this side of the Divide!

  • Board Membership - We are currently a 7 member board doing the work of about 15 people. No kidding! We have a lot of fun, laugh a ton. and get IT done. We meet once a month for an hour and do the rest of our tasks via text and email. All of us have jobs, or run businesses, or are parenting a brood—so the goal is efficiency! We’d love to have you join our board. Not sure if it’s the right fit? Just come to a monthly meeting and check it out!

Without you, we cannot have a youth soccer program in Frenchtown.

The club provides jerseys + equipment for the teams and assists volunteers where needed.

Athletes should be prepared with cleats, shin guards, soccer socks, and water bottles. We’ll bring the balls and the FUN!

We all work together as a team! Practice times and schedules are set for the coaches’ convenience….so maybe consider coaching?

Practice is typically held after school at the Frenchtown School District Intermediate Field….no driving to Missoula to make a practice or game

An annual membership form (FREE) is required to participate in this program. The annual membership is good for August 1st, 2026 to July 31st, 2027. This is required of all players in order for them to be insured by the MYSA. Once registered with the club with an annual membership, players must then be registered in the specific program in which the player wants to play. The Fall and Spring Rec leagues require a fee of $50 per player (per season) to cover insurance, jersey, and other equipment needs. Please contact the Rec Director (Emily Sallee) for information about scholarships to help cover fees.
